Yifan Du (1999) is a versatile and adventurous percussion soloist and chamber musician based in the Netherlands.
She discovered her love for music at the age of 7 when she started playing the piano, and soon switched to percussion as her main instrument. In 2016, she joined her high school ensemble and won a silver prize at the Macao International Drum Festival, showcasing her talent and passion.
Continuing her musical journey at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Yifan obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in percussion with a special emphasis on solo performance and timpani. She experimented with new sounds and expanded her musical horizons under the guidance of her teachers Rachel Xi Zhang, Laurent Warnier, Arnold Marinissen, Nancy Zeltsman, Nick Woud, Mark Braafhart, Bence Major, Richard Jansen and Marijn Korff de Gidts.
In 2021, Yifan achieved a remarkable feat by winning the first prize at the PSMopole 8th International Marimba Competition. The same year, she became a member of the Nationaal Jeugdorkest (NJO).
With a wealth of stage experience, she has worked with various composers, showcasing her versatility. Notable performances include such as the Tromp 'Marching & Breakin' 2019 tour, where she collaborated with dancers, and the Dutch composer Daan Manneke's 80th Birthday tour.
As a chamber musician, she founded her percussion trio 'Amswave' in 2021 with which she performed in Beijing and Tsingtao (CN) in 2023.
